Students advance to Region 10 Spanish Spelling Bee

Several talented competitors participated in the WISD District Spelling Bee. History was also made as the dual-language department hosted the Spanish spelling bee at the junior high level.

First-place recipients in each division will represent the district at the Region 10 Spanish Spelling Bee on March 2022.

Middle school division
1st place — Christian | Coleman Junior High
2nd place — Kassidy | Howard Junior High

Fourth & fifth-grade division
1st place — Lilly | Dunaway Elementary
2nd place — Luis | Wedgeworth Elementary

The dual-language department extended a thank you to David Flores (Turner) for acting as the competition’s pronouncer, as well as Rosy Robles (Turner), Glays Olmos (Dunaway), and Susie Aleman who serves as one of the vice presidents of Tic-Tok, a Dallas-based marketing services and promotional agency.
